When People Lose Faith in Spirituality, How to Get the Faith Back

Writer's picture: Maitreyi Meredith Maitreyi Meredith

Question:

Dadashreeji you had appealed to all the Spiritual Masters to talk about the Transformation, but recently, we have come to know about many gurus and their organizations that have been connected to illegal activities.  Because of this fact, many people have lost their faith and their belief in Spirituality. How can they restore their faith in spirituality and spiritual Transformation?

Dadashreeji answers:

The question isn't who is good or who is bad? The key is that you have to progress yourself. Your spiritual progress.  What should you do for it? Who is right or wrong? Should I follow this guru or that? This question will arise later.  First you have to think about, “What I should do for my spiritual progress?” You can do some meditation by yourself or read something to explore.   But to experience more, you have to take a step forward.   Not all gurus are bad: it’s not that 100 out of 100 gurus are bad. One of them would be genuine. You have to make an effort to reach that right one.

You have to think from within what you want to do for your own spiritual progress. What do you want to do? What is your aim or purpose? If you think you have to learn yoga; you need to go to a yoga teacher. If you want to awaken the seven chakras within then you have to go to the teacher who can help with this. If you want to learn different types of magic then you can go to that type of teacher.

First, you have to decide within yourself, “what do I want to accomplish?”  “What is my goal in in my spiritual path?” Only then you will understand who to search for. If any guru is trying to lure you for materialistic gains claiming he will help you bring more money and increase the bank balance, or if someone’s kid was not getting married and now they are able to marry them off,  or if someone was struggling to have a kid and now they can have a kid - if this kind of lucrative deal is being offered: I would say that is the wrong path.

A true guru or guide will not usher you in this direction. If you are going through lots of challenges and are struggling then a true guru will surely help you and guide you on the right path.  But if material comfort is offered or you are being pulled in lust or greed, you can never progress on a spiritual path. This will also help you understand whether to follow them or not. But in case, you find the wrong guru or guide, even then you cannot stop your own progress.

The most important thing for you is your own spiritual growth. Why would you stop your growth because of someone else? Someone did something wrong – you learned something.  Now move on.  If you find the right mentor, follow him.  If not, then don’t worry. Just keep on progressing on this journey. You have to center yourself and aim for your own spiritual progress.  Whatever happens, you should not stop. You have to constantly work for your growth.

When we talk about spiritual transformation, this works on various levels inside you. Human consciousness can be divided into four parts: physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. Our consciousness resides at a spiritual level and this is where your journey of transformation begins from the innermost level of your being.

These four parts of your consciousness are interconnected and when you reflect on these parts that is where you can see your challenges, difficulties, hurt, and pain. You can treat all these challenges by yourself.  You don’t have to take any different spiritual path. But your own spiritual state, which is deep inside you, you have to work on that part.  Over a period of time this internal spiritual structure has been disturbed and we are working to correct this disturbance.  Spiritual transformation will only begin if we work for it.  You will see its effect on your emotions, on the mental body, and eventually on the physical body.  You will then be able to experience it in its true form. This transformation has to start from within you.

It is not easy to reach your innermost spiritual level. Your words won’t reach to this inner level where this spiritual transformation starts, your mantras won’t reach there, your meditation won’t reach there, your kundalini awakening practice doesn’t reach there, and opening of the third eye won’t reach there. So, what do we do?

When you work on your spiritual level, which is deep inside you, everything will work out.  We have to keep our main focus there on the Spiritual level.  Transformation won’t merely happen by just talking about it. For this, we do a special process inside you so that a Divine Seed of transformation (Daivik Beej) is planted at the deepest spiritual level. This divine seed will help fix the spiritual structure which has been disturbed.

As soon as this spiritual state is corrected, your transformation automatically starts and you can see and experience this in your life.  As this spiritual level is corrected it automatically brings changes to your emotions, which in turn affect your mental state, and that affects your physical body.   So transformation starts inward and moves to outward. As this transformation begins you can see the change as it moves from emotional level to the physical body and subsequently your surroundings will start changing as well.

Nothing will happen just by saying something or talking about it. You have to experience it. Until you experience it, nothing will happen. There are so many people around who can talk about transformation. There are teachers, good speakers, and orators who can talk but won’t be able to give you this experience. To give this experience to others, you have to experience it yourself first.  Only then will then, will others be able to experience it.
