Namaste and welcome to all of you!
Many of our hardships in life are self-created. We also tend to complicate matters by sticking to unhelpful thoughts and ideas. So, today let us see how we can solve our own problems, by nurturing a specific noble quality in ourselves and outside. And that is the Divine quality of Kshama(forgiveness).
Let us examine what happens when we hold on to so much anger or hatred against someone, that we are unable to forgive them. Oftentimes, people come to me complaining of heaviness in their heads/hearts and seek peace. In the course of our conversations, it quickly becomes evident that the root cause of their suffering is some deep seated resentment against someone. The desire to seek revenge for being wronged, silently permeates our bodies and minds, manifesting as disease and pain. If we lead our lives in anger, how can we find peace?
Forgiveness is that life-giving water which cools down the hot embers of anger that threaten to darken and burn us. It is indeed Divine. One may say that it is extremely difficult to forgive someone who has given us a lot of pain. But it is possible to effortlessly let go of our anger, if we develop self-awareness and a deep, unwavering connection with the Divine within us. This will help us tap into our inner reservoir of strength, which will then in turn, make it easier for us to practice forgiveness.
Therefore, for us and those around us to progress or transform, it is imperative that we consciously cultivate this quality. Remember - however difficult people or circumstances might be, our personal bond with our Divine will give us the necessary strength to effortlessly forgive or accept them and move on. And whoever understands this secret, is indeed free.
To summarize today's teaching succinctly - "One who forgives, will progress." Please examine your lives to see if forgiveness can help you walk further on your spiritual path and lead you closer to your True Nature of Divinity. Practice forgiveness to manifest enormous transformation in your lives. For the next 7 days, please meditate on this thought and teaching.
Let us meet again next week with a new thought. May your lives be blessed and auspicious! Namaste!
